Does your social group influence your style?: No, I operate outside of all groups, like a chameleon. Do you read men's magazines?: Nope, I'm not that vain. Women's magazines?: No, not interesting to take home and read. The nature of the magazines enforces how they are supposed to look and not who anyone could be or is. Do you think fashion has become the American desire to consume?: Couldn't really answer that because my group of friends buy what they need and like, and not really what they are told to. Do you feel that women fall prey to fashion more often than men?: I'd say so; unfortunately, in today's society women still have to rely on looks more than intelligence. Everything is still very male-dominated. How do you feel the atmosphere of San Francisco is reflected in the style here, and how does it differ from other cities?: SF has more hippies--people trying too hard to be unique. I don't know what's up with those oversized clown pants, street sweepers. I guess Hammer started it and the ravers grabbed onto it. Lampshade hats gotta go too. Too many bike messengers in Spandex, sporting their moneymaker all day. In the Upper Haight there are all sorts of extremes, fashionable to frightening.
